ABOUT US
The Coming Home Project was founded to help combat veterans and first responders find that path. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is completely committed to saving lives. One warrior at a time.
The Coming Home Project was founded by Navy SEAL veteran Nate Brown and became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 2022. Nate conducted multiple combat deployments in the Global War on Terror (GWOT). After service, he experienced the disconnection and dislocation that many combat veterans encounter.
Nate’s journey to recovery and peace began when he was introduced to plant medicine in 2015. After working with these compounds in ceremony over many years, the differences in his personal and family life were profound. Over time, he introduced other veterans and first responders to this space and witnessed powerful transformations.
A rapidly growing body of research points to the promise of psychedelic-assisted therapy for PTSD. Humans have used these compounds since ancient times. We have seen firsthand the deep, powerful, and lasting healing that psychedelic treatments can provide to warriors struggling to find the path back from war and destruction.
One warrior at a time.
WHO WE ARE
The Coming Home Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2022. Our mission is to end veteran suicide. One warrior at a time.
We are solely committed to this purpose. Our founder, Nate Brown, has spent more than a decade walking alongside veterans and first responders. We work in small groups, so no one walks this path alone. Veterans and first responders prepare together, take part in retreats hosted by our partners, and stay connected through integration calls and peer support.

Our Logo and Its Meaning
The Serpent
The serpent is an ancient symbol found in every human culture. It represents good and evil, medicine and venom, death and rebirth. Serpents guard the sacred spaces.
In our logo the serpent represents the psychedelic journey. We must die to ourselves to journey into the underworld, the land of shadows where we confront the source of trauma and pain.
The Sun
The sun is the symbol of light, hope, fertility, growth, and resurrection. Warmth after a period of cold. Vision after a time of darkness.
If the first part of the psychedelic journey is the path through the shadow lands, the return brings us back to clarity, enlightenment, and resolution.
The Sun and the Snake
Our logo represents the warrior’s journey. It is the path through trauma, pain, darkness, and turmoil – the path that leads to healing and a new life built on purpose. We cannot heal you. We cannot even tell you the way. The power of the psychedelic experience is to help each warrior find that path for themselves.
THE MEDICINE
Plant medicine is an ancient path to healing. At The Coming Home Project, veterans and first responders walk it together, with others who know the path. Preparation comes first. Integration comes after. The ceremony is one part of the journey.
Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca is sacred plant medicine, carried through ceremony with fellow warriors who know this path.
Psilocybin
Many warriors describe finding relief with psilocybin and real psychological support.
